Self care/Mental health
School can be draining on it’s own but add a pandemic and it can be seriously overwhelming. But, there are ways to decompress. While school is an important aspect of your life, it should not revolve around it. You come first. When feeling overwhelmed it's good to step back and reflect. Take into account that school will help you in the long run. But, that might not work all the time and that is okay. Picking up a hobby allows you to spend time dedicating yourself to something that you enjoy. It can be absolutely anything from painting to collecting rocks or coins. Another way to help your mental health is to organize. A lot of stress can come from loads of work that has accumulated. Having a planner and setting up an organized schedule can encourage you to stay on track, further preventing you from dealing with abnormal amounts of homework at once. Lastly, it's important to take care of yourself, eat healthy meals, drink water, maybe put on a face mask, play some music and simply lay back and chill. How do you get ready for upcoming state tests? How do you deal with your studies and daily life? State tests can always be stressful and sometimes nerve racking. However, to be quite honest, it’s nothing to worry about. State testing is just all about what you’ve been taught throughout the school year and preparing for it is quite simple. When studying for a state test, it’s important to know and understand every section of the test. With this, there are no surprises on the day of the test and you already have an idea of what it’s going to look like. Next, if you’re having doubts about your ability to pass, , there are plenty of practice tests online - even ones from previous years. When in doubt, contacting your teachers for extra help is always an option. While being in school, whether remote or blended, making time for your studies and social life can be challenging. It’s always a joy to have a nice day with family and friends without the thought of 50 assignments weighing you down. In order to balance out your studies with your daily life, it’s imperative to have good time management skills. Having this skill can improve not only your punctuality but also positively affect your state of mind. It is proven that time management can help you reduce stress and practice good study habits. While perfecting this, you can also work on making time to watch a movie with your family or spend a day at the park with your friends. Having some time to relax and socialize is key to maintaining a healthy state of mind. Ways to prevent procrastination Procrastination is everyone’s enemy. It gets the best of us. However, there are actions we can take to get work done. First, set your priorities straight. This motivates you to make time for that task. Second, know yourself. Ifyou know your limits you can try to push yourself. If you are used to studying for 20 minutes but you can push for an extra five minutes DO IT! You will increase your stamina. If you continue to get distracted try eliminating the distractions. For example, if you are distracted by your phone, turn it off for a set amount of time. It can also help to be in an environment where you know you can focus. For some that may be a quiet area, while others can be more productive with music playing.
